IMPLEMENTING THE TRANSFER: TWO DISTINCT METHODS
The “Import Memory” tool provides a simple, iterative approach. Users begin by copying a specifically crafted prompt generated by Gemini and pasting it into their previous AI. The subsequent output from the older AI is then pasted into Gemini, effectively prompting the new AI to catch up on the user’s established preferences and information. This method is particularly effective for capturing nuanced details and specific knowledge bases. Conversely, the “Import Chat History” feature allows users to export their entire chat history from their previous AI, provided it’s available. Users are prompted to request an export, which is then uploaded as a.zip file, capped at 5GB in size. ROLLOUT AND LIMITATIONS
These innovative features are currently being rolled out to both free and paid consumer Gemini accounts on desktop. However, access is presently restricted to users with business, enterprise, or under-18 accounts.
